Marie CALIENDO, Associate Prof. of Spanish /
Teacher Education.
Holds B.A. in
Spanish / Secondary Certification (Eastern CT State
University); M.A., in Spanish (Middlebury College): Ph.D.
in Bilingual / Bicultural Education with areas in
Curriculum & Instruction (Second Language
Acquisition) and Educational Administration (Univ. of
CT).
Coordinates the
Teacher Education for MLD, teaches all levels of Spanish,
teaches Methods courses for teachers, and supervises
student teachers. She has also been a State Assessor for
the CSDE in the Beginning Educator Support Training
Program (BEST) (4 years).
Has traveled and
lived in Central and South America. In the summer of 1997
she brought a group of students to Guatemala for a Field
School Experience (with Abagail Adams, Anthropology).
She has presented
at local, regional, national & international
professional conferences and is presently preparing a
series of booklets on themes in Teacher Education (some
related to Foreign Language specifically).
Other interests:
Has studied / taught dance (ballet / jazz) for many years
and formerly performed; enjoys the Arts. Participated in the Teacher Education Redesign Project
scheduled that took effect in 1999.
