MS and MA Comprehensive Exams

The Comprehensive Examination is required of all students who select Plan B as a capstone option. It is normally taken during the last semester of study, but may be taken any time after the completion of at least 24 credits in the planned program. Examinations are given each fall and spring and, at the discretion of the department, during the summer.

The Spanish Section has prepared a 16-page document in PDF format that contains an explanation of the different components of these capstone examinations, as well as reading lists, and sample questions. All graduate students planning to do Comprehensive Exams, rather than a thesis are urged to look at this document as early in their studies as possible. It will help them plan their studies better, and it will help them to prepare for the exams well in advance.

The document is in PDF format, and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download free of charge by following this link.
