Applicants must hold a bachelors degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education, with a minimum of twenty-four (24) credits preparation in the language(s) in which graduate work will be done. International applicants must meet the Graduate School regular requirements for admission. Native-speakers educated in Spanish/French speaking countries need to consult with the Modern Language Department about admission criteria. With approval of the adviser, candidates with sufficient background in a second language other than English may be permitted to include a maximum of 6 credits of appropriate graduate courses in this language in their program (see listing of appropriate courses in the back). Certified teachers whose oral proficiency skills are of sufficient caliber may include up to six (6) credits in professional education in their MS program. The candidate must have a minimum GPA of 2.70 and at least 3.0 in the language chosen for the Masters Degree.
The Modern Language Department limits the number of transfer graduate credits to 9 (nine) from any other institution.
