Methodology

SITS 08 includes a brief introduction to Standards and to the BEST program, as well as an introduction to the principles and practice of the Integrated Performance Assessment (IPAs) and Backward Design.

Technology in the Foreign Language Classroom

MsWord, PowerPoint, FrontPage, HotPotatos, Quandry and other tools will be used to prepare pedagogical materials for the foreign language classroom. Different types of assessment are discussed. The focus is on the role of technology as a tool to integrate language and cultural components. It is not an advanced course on computers. Instruction on the use of the above mentioned programs will be provided, but the focus is on learning ways to use those tools for the creation of interesting lessons that integrate language and culture.
