2005 CCSU Summer Curriculum Development Grant. Implementing Writing Proficiency Tests in Writing Courses.

2003 CCSU Summer Curriculum Development Grant to organize a conference which was held on November 12 with the title The Breast Unveiled.

 2003 Connecticut Quality Partnership Grant. $25000 to organize a Professional Development Program with New Haven Public Schools. In collaboration with Dr. Uribe and Dr. Mejia.

2002 CCSU Professional Development Grant to become certified as an official ACTFL interviewer for OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview).

2002 CCSU Strategic and Planning Committee Grant for the organization of an Inter-university Conference on Teacher Development Programs. Project Co-Manager with Dr. Lilián Uribe.

2002 Connecticut Collaboration for the Teaching of the Arts and the Humanities. $19000 grant to organize series of seminars on The challenge of integrating culture in the Spanish Language Classroom. In collaboration with Dr. Uribe.

2001CCSU. Summer Curriculum Development Grant, for the development of a module on Spain to be taught at the Summer Institute for Teachers of Spanish. Project director.

2000 CCSU. Strategic and Planning Committee Grant for the establishment of an Inter-University Master's Specialization with the University of Salamanca in Spain. Project Co-Manager with Dr. Lilián Uribe.                  

2000 CCSU. Summer Curriculum Development Grant, for the revision of writing courses. Project Director.

1999 CCSU. Summer Curriculum Development Grant, for the revision of Spanish First Level. Project Director.

1995-97 University of Natal Research Fund. Grants for research on multilingualism.

1992 Universidad Menendez Pelayo. Full scholarship to attend a summer Seminar on New Tendencies in Literary Theory and Criticism, directed by Prof. Darío Villanueva of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

1990 University of Salamanca. International Courses: one month of collaboration and research on the application of new methods of teaching Spanish as a second language.

1987/88 FNRS (Swiss National Research Fund): one year research on Spanish poetry in Madrid.
