The Department of Modern Languages has established a Summer Institute for Teachers of Modern Languages with particular focus on three languages.
In 2000 the Summer Institute for Teachers of Spanish was the first to offer a 9-credit, graduate program.
The Summer Institute for Teachers of Italian has offered 6-credit programs.
In 2009, the Summer Institute for Teachers of Chinese is opening its doors with a 6-credit, graduate program.
