Dr. Jakub Kazecki joined the CCSU faculty in September 2008, after two years of teaching German courses at McMaster University in Hamilton, ON, Canada. Born in Poland, he has left his home country in 2000, studied in Halifax, NS, and graduated from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, in 2007. He is interested in 20th-century German literature (especially in literature about the First World War), images of German-Polish relationships in literature, film and visual arts, and laughter and comedy in different media. At CCSU, he is teaching German language, literature and culture courses at all levels and Humanities courses, including one on German Culture Through Film.
He claims that Germans have a great sense of humor.

Prof. William McNamara has been teaching German at CCSU and at the Austrian Donau Club for the past 18 years. After completing his M.A. degree at Michigan State University, he taught at the University of Hartford, Tunxis Community College, and Pulaski Senior High School. He spent more than two years in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. He was Mayor of New Britain between 1977 and 1987 and received many awards for his public service. He is the recipient of the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit from the government of Germany, the highest tribute Germany can pay to individuals for achievements in political, economic, social, or intellectual realm.
He has traveled to 40 countries and counting...
